I have spent a whole year looking for the best freediving dry bags and backpacks.
Finally in July 2022 when training in Nice I came across Zulupack.
Their dry bags first stand out for their sleek design, but as my collaboration with Zulupack kicked off and I could finally put my hands on a range of bags, the quality really made an impression.
The products I had the pleasure of testing are: waterproof fanny pack 0,5l, urban waterproof backpack 20l, waterproof packing bag 138l, waterproof duffle 40l, waterproof multipurpose tube bag 25l.
These have been my companions in all my travels this year, to the CMAS World Championships in Kas, Turkey, in London, hiking in the Italian Alps and in the Red Sea in Dahab, Egypt.
Pretty much every freediver I meet ask me about my dry bags as they genuinely look very cool and the quality vs price is amazing.
Definitely one of my favourites from Zulupack, this bag is incredibly versatile.
Fanny packs are definitely on the trend lately and I have been using it not only on my boat trips to my freediving destinations, but pretty much everywhere- on treks, on a casual day in London, on my bike, and as it’s completely waterproof, even canyoning down a river in the South of France.
The capacity of this waterproof fanny pack allows you to take all the necessary items with you on your adventures, allowing you to practice your sporting activities in the best possible way. I can fit two phones, my wallet and still fit some extra stuff like my sunglasses on the outside elastic bands.
This product is compatible with other accessories of the ZULUPACK® range thanks to its RCT system. You will be able to fix your phone on the bag to have your smartphone at disposal.
The Smart Tube 20 is a smart bag for all sports and outdoor activities, but also looks very sleek in the urban environment. It’s also my favourite drypack.
The adjustable elastic straps on the back are just enough to fit my freediving fins in them without having to carry an extra fin bag.
Its 20L volume is perfectly suited for day trips, it’s not too big nor too small. Its removable shoulder straps and shoulder pad allow you to carry it as a backpack or in your hand.
There is also a 40L version for those who have a bigger build.
The quality is impressive, I have been wearing it everyday for six months straight and there is no show of stain.
This large, rugged 138L bag is very durable to protect the gear from the outside elements (dust, mud, water).
I use it as my main gear bag when I fly to my training and competitions abroad as it is huge and fits all my freediving equipment including my bifin bag, wetsuits, weights, swimming suits, ponchos, and still has room for my normal clothes.
A wide-opening main compartment provides easy access to all your gear. It is equipped with a compression valve to evacuate air or water if you carry wet equipment (fins, wetsuits, etc.).
If kept light, it’s quite easy to carry thanks to the removable shoulder strap and the 2 side handles, however mine always comes extremely heavy filled with all possible equipment as it’s capacity is huge, so I tend to use it as a carrier on my car and place it on a trolley when at the airport
This cool and technical duffle is extremely versatile and comfortable. I use it as a carry on bag on most of my flights and it fits a change of clothes, wetsuit, my laptop computer, and some light gear, making it perfect for packing for a short weekend of adventure.
It is powerful, robust and suitable for everyone in all situations. Its zip is waterproof and you can remove the shoulder straps. The materials are carefully chosen to guarantee you a quality product with ergonomics tested by our experts.
It is accessorized with an RCT buckle on the straps for quick access to your smartphone.
It is my bag of choice for carrying my wet equipment. It fits my wetsuit, lanyard, weightbelt, a towel, swimming suits. It is easy to carry thanks to an adjustable and removable shoulder strap, and it has a transparent bottom so that you know where your equipment is at any time.
It’s made with resistant materials and assembled by high frequency welding, they are simple, functional and robust. I have tested mine against water and sand in Dahab, Egypt and it cleans very easily whilst protecting your belongings against sand, dust, mud and water.
